Internship Program (IIG-IP)

The IIG Internship Program (IIG-IP) is a unique opportunity for young individuals to garner invaluable professional experience and develop critical competencies at a dynamic forward-looking workplace. Whether you’re passionate about research, data analytics and management, or seeking innovative solutions to Africa’s development agenda, an IIG Internship is your gateway to personal and professional growth. Our carefully curated and rigorously enhanced IIG-IP offers an immersive and impactful experience, aimed at fostering the holistic growth and development of its participants.

Interns support IIG’s program of work in Capacity Development, Communication & Reporting, Data Analytics & Management, Knowledge Management & Ideation, M&E, Project/Program Management, and Research Design & Implementation. Interns usually serve a period ranging from 1-2 to 3-6 months, with the majority focused on specific projects / client collaborations. Ideally interns already have a good grasp of Africa’s development aspirations, challenges, opportunities, and possibilities either via formal education or lived experience.

Eligibility

  • Open to final year undergrads and postgrads (MA/MSc/PhD) from diverse academic backgrounds.
  • Relevant coursework and academic excellence in fields such as development studies, geography, communication, sociology, economics, or STEM.
  • Fluency in English is required, knowledge of a second language is a plus.
  • Cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and a drive to learn and grow.
  • Availability to work full time during internship period, which ranges from 1-2 to 3-6 months.
  • Effective communication and skills to collaborate with diverse teams and clients.
  • Knowledge of Africa.
